ThyroMobile Medical Mission Launch in Puerto Princesa

Palawan, known for its natural beauty, presents unique healthcare challenges due to its remote location. Residents and visitors often struggle to access specialized healthcare services. On August 14, 2023, the day before the official launch, the Salinas Foods team, responsible for conducting salt tests for iodine levels, visited the Puerto Princesa City Hall.

The team organized a WYD Iodine Checker training course and a hands-on demonstration for eight Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) participants. BNS participants brought salt samples for salt analysis and taught how to operate the machine. Surprisingly, the majority of their salt samples turned out to be FIDEL Iodized salt, which yielded results within the FDA-required range of 30 to 70 ppm.
