ThyroMobile Medical Mission Launching with National Nutrition Council

The launching of ThyroMobile was held last February 3, 2023 at National Nutrition Council in Taguig City. ThyroMobile is a nutrition program as a collaborative effort from different organizations such as Iodine Global Network Philippines (IGN), Philippine Thyroid Association, Rotary Club of University District Manila, Thyroid Federation International, Merck Inc. and Salinas Foods, Inc. to fight iodine deficiency disorders in the Philippines. The program began with the Invocation, Salt of the Earth Prayer, and the song entitled Asin ng Lupa that was led by Salinas Foods, Inc. team.

The opening remarks was given by Ellen Ruth F. Abella, Officer-In-Charge, Nutrition Policy and Planning Division of National Nutrition Council (NNC) and included the message from Assistant Secretary and Executive Director of NNC Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang. They were followed by Rotary District 3810 Secretary Mark Tan of the Rotary Club of University District Manila and Mr. Henry Wilson, Managing Director and General Manager of Merck Inc & Biopharma.

Next came the discussion of Dr. Teofilo San Luis Jr., Country Representative of Iodine Global Network – Philippines on informative details about the ThyroMobile and its various service components. Closing remarks were made by FNRI Service Laboratory Supervising Science Rosemarie Dumag and Johnny Khonghun, the President / CEO of Salinas Foods, Inc.

The invited key personalities led the ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of NNC office with photo opportunity before the Thyromobile that will visit 15 provinces nationwide to conduct program and activities.
