ThyroMobile Medical Mission Travels to Malabon

On March 5, 2023, in celebration of the International Women Month, the Zonta Club of Makati Paseo de Roxas, the Zonta Club of Makati Central Business District, the Rotary Club of University District Manila, the Rotary Club of Malabon, the Soroptomist Commonwealth, the Red Cross Malabon Chapter and the City Government of Malabon joined efforts with the Iodine Global Network, Philippine Thyroid Association, Thyroid Federation International, Merck, Inc and Salinas Foods, Inc to launch the ThyroMobile in Malabon. The event was held at the Rotary Club of Malabon Civic Center at Gov Pascual Avenue.

The program started with messages from Dr. Moleen Perez del Rosario, the host of the event, followed by Ms. Ma Lourdes Wallace, the Area Director of Zonta Club and Hon. Jeannie Ng-Sandoval, the Mayor of Malabon City.

For the overview of the event, Dr. Teofilo O.L. San Luis, Jr., the Coordinator of ThyroMobile Philippines discussed the importance of the iodine. Afterwards, Dr. Rainer Wandrew W. Po, gave a lecture on the “Recognition of Thyroid Disorders” followed by Dr. Nenuel Angelo B. Luna for the discussion of “Goiter and Pregnancy”.

Highlight of the event was the ThyroMobile services delivery to women of reproductive age which included the goiter screening, thyroid ultrasound, blood testing for thyroid hormone (TSH, FT4), urine collection for testing for its iodine concentration, and lastly the household salt testing for iodine levels.
